DC Superior Court yesterday delivered a guilty verdict against Oscar Diaz Romero, 47, of El Salvador, for his role in the brutal shooting deaths of two men 23 years ago.

On August 9, 1997, Romero, also known as Oscar Alonzo Salguero, along with an accomplice, took the lives of 21-year-old Jose Roberto Molina and 22-year-old Jose Noel Coreas in a senseless act of violence.

The case went cold, with Romero thought to have escaped justice until authorities were able to track him down in his home country of El Salvador.

U.S. Attorney Jeanine F. Pirro announced the guilty verdict, stating that justice had finally been served for the families of the victims.

The case was a complex one, with Romero evading capture for nearly two decades.

As a result of his conviction, Romero will face a lengthy prison sentence, a punishment fitting of his heinous crimes. The Grimy Times will continue to follow this case and provide updates as more information becomes available.
